I was looking forward to this cute animation after seeing the trailer, and hoping for it to be something like Coco. Well, it’s not, in case you are wondering. To be honest, this movie is kinda boring to me. Why am I still putting it in the A-league? Because I assume the main audience will be kids and their parents.

First of all, I’m sure kids are going to love it for the “magic” — all the singing, and the vibrant animation. Parents are probably shaking their heads now. Another one of those, huh? What makes it into the A-league as a kids’ animation is its story. The story is actually more educational for parents than kids. There’s a little short animation before the movie started in my theater, and they go with the same theme: parenting.
I won’t say more in case of spoilers, but parents, if you have a toddler, take them to see this movie and it will remind you why you love them so much.

Plot
Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family — the Madrigals — who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal — every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

about the RunPee app.
Brilliant idea with great information
I’ve been using RunPee for a few years now and it’s basically a requirement of going to the movies for me. The best part of course are the “pee times” that give you cues, synopses and times for when you can pee without missing the most important parts of the movie. There is also information about the credits- length, extras and if there are any extra scenes at the wayyy end. Super helpful to just know that it is or isn’t worth staying. There is a timer function that will buzz your phone when it’s a good time to pee. I also appreciate that the app is very conscientious about it being an app you use in a theater- dark background, all silent alarms etc. I will always enjoy the experience of the theater even if I could watch things at home- but I’ve even used it at home to check for things like after credit scenes or other information too.
