Peter Dinklage was masterful in expressing the hidden emotions of Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano is one of the more difficult characters to perform because he needs to say and express one thing to the characters in the movie, notably Roxanne, while simultaneously expressing to the audience his deep pain and longing for Roxanne. I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job than Dinklage.
Also, Dinklage wasn’t exactly hired for his singing voice, but he is a surprisingly good, but not great, singer.

Haley Bennett, as Roxanne, was outstanding. She was vibrant when called for, petulant when needed, and sorrowful when it counted the most.
Kelvin Harrison Jr., as Christian, rounded out the trio with a strong performance. Christian’s character is the least demanding of the three and so it was up to Kelvin to not drop the ball. Christian’s character gets only a few scenes to shine and Kelvin made the most of them.
Other than that, the production quality was top-notch. The sets and costumes were fantastic. I can’t wait for the sequel. 🙂
Grade: B
About The Peetimes: We have 4 Peetimes spread nicely throughout the movie. Vera and I agree that the first two Peetimes are best.
Our focus was to avoid missing any of the fantastic acting by Peter Dinklage, but at a cost of missing some of the singing scenes.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Cyrano. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)

Water drinkers unite
Run pee is the best app for people who find themselves needing to pee a lot but also not wanting to miss any action. The app gives you the best times to use the bathroom during a movie while also telling you when to leave and which lines to listen for! It not only gives you the time you should go pee, but it also explains to you what is happening during the break. I helped I use this app every time I go to the movies now. My god father recommended this app to 5 years ago and it’s been in my phone ever since! Highly recommended.

Plot
A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne, Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian.

Creator and developer of the RunPee app. When something doesn’t work right in the app it’s pretty much his fault. 🙂
Aspiring author. Would like to finish his “Zombie Revelations” trilogy if he could break away for working on RunPee and the cottage he’s building for RunPee Mom.

I pretty much just want to watch this to see what Dinklage does with the role. I should compare it to the Steve Martin version first, to see what the most recent cultural baselane it follows up.
We watched “Roxanne” a few nights ago. It’s held up fairly well. Something I learned: Steve Martin wrote the screenplay for Roxanne.
Cyrano isn’t anything remotely like Roxanne. There’s no comparison between the two movies.
I adore Peter Dinklage, so looking forward to this..
I’ve seen him sing somewhere, besides SNL doing Spacepants, and he’s just fabulous as always..
You want to see something fun, check him doing Hervé the actor from Bond and Fantasy Island… In the Biopic of same name.. Wild and tragic, but Peter is awesome..
Agreed, Peter is awesome. One of my favorite things I’ve seen is he did an interview with Stephen Colbert. In the interview he said that his parents didn’t have a TV when he was growing up. Stephen asked, “Why.” Peter paused and said, “Because they’re smart.” Absolutely classic delivery. 🙂
