We’ve all had an unusual couple of years. This sort of thing hasn’t been seen for a century but we seem to getting over it. The sneeze guards have disappeared, The “Keep 2M apart” stickers on the floor are all scuffed and peeling off. Masks can still be seen but nowhere near as many as there were a couple of years ago.
And the cinemas are open again! Films are being released again. Not only that but they’re being released on schedule. Plans can be made! Alright, things have changed. Streaming is more popular but if you’re reading this my guess is that you prefer to see a film, at least once, on the big screen. You want the picture to fill your vision. You want the sound to loosen your fillings. You want to hear the explosions through the cheeks of your behind.
With the best kit in the world you don’t get that at home. You also don’t get the communal atmosphere. At home you can’t be in a room with a couple of hundred people all jumping, gasping, laughing, or crying at the same time.
However, you also can’t decide to just press pause when you need to answer the call of nature or go and get a drink or some nibbles. If you do decide to just nip out and do whatever you need to do, it is deeply frowned upon to ask your seat neighbour what happened while you were gone.
And this is where RunPee comes in! It gives you a few chances to nip out and do whatever dotted throughout the film. The app will gently remind you when it’s a good time to go. While you are out you can look at a very brief synopsis of what you’re missing. So you can go back refreshed and up to date. It’ll also let you know what happens at the beginning if you’re running late and let you know if it’s worth staying to the end of the credits.
One favour we would ask of you…we don’t have a huge advertising budget so we would be grateful of any recommendations you can give us. Word of mouth is our usual way of getting the word out so please tell everyone you know who is a film fan about us.
What people are saying
about the RunPee app.
This is a great app. I wish more people would support it
This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let’s you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It’s really a wonderful app. I’ve subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn’t seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!
Developers note: RunPee doesn’t make much money but it supports itself nicely. Donations are appreciated, but not required. We’ll add as many movies to the database as we can until there are no more movie theaters.
