A Rewatch of Blade Runner 2049

Before a word is spoken in the movie, Villeneuve sets up a palpable conflict. We’ve seen two characters and we know that conflict is inevitable. What’s more, the characters know this as well. Dave Bautista’s character pauses before entering the house. He knows someone is waiting inside for him. He knows there’s nothing he can do but face it. Movie Review: ISS
I thought this movie was going to be worse than it was. My expectation going in was around a D-. But I’ll give them credit, it wasn’t bad. That being said, it definitely wasn’t enjoyable either because, you know, the seemingly total destruction of planet Earth. But that’s just the backdrop; literally, in many scenes Earth on Fire is the backdrop.

Dagr — What You Need to Know
Dagr is a comedy horror in the found footage sub-genre. Louise and Thea are wannabe YouTube superstars. They disguise themselves as caterers to a film crew making an advert in order to plant hidden cameras to get footage they can use for their own project. Unfortunately, they find something rather unsettling…
Indie Movie Review — On the Line
All the action takes place in one room and we only see one character, Agnes (Victoria Lucie). The room is the telephone exchange on the island of Alderney and Agnes is the switchboard operator. Yes younglings, this was in the days before everyone had their own, personal telephone in their pockets.

Indie Movie Review – Punch
Punch hides its low budget very well. I mean, I’m assuming it was a low budget affair, but that is just because that’s what I’m used to being sent! It looks like we’re in a cheap, run down town but that’s because it is meant to! The acting is excellent. Given that I didn’t recognize any of the players I was pleasantly surprised.  Andy Edwards wrote and directed and he did a fine job of both.
