Review : Terminator Salvation

What did you think about Terminator Salvation?

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Much better than T3 but then that’s not saying much is it? Terminator and T2 are very hard to improve upon. So Salvation is pretty easy to place in the Terminator pantheon.

The Fx were great. Acting was top notch and I was very pleased with the plot and pacing of the movie.

  1. I thought it was a pretty good flick. Special effects were awesome. I was really into the story and the pace as well. There were a couple of scenes that were kind of funny to me but that’s how my brain works. Like when he hopped on the bike and rode it. I didn’t know they left the handlebars on those bikes and what about the throttle? dah well all in all I thought it was a great movie.

    1. @Justin, I think everyone probably thought the same as you when we saw JC on the cyclenators. We just got to let stuff like that slide and enjoy the idea. ๐Ÿ™‚

One thing that always bothers me in movies is scenes when someone gets hit real hard and gets right up. Like when one of the Terminators at the end of the movie hits JC so hard he flies across the room and into a wall. Please, no one is just going to jump up and shake that off. Myself, I’m out cold for at least a few hours. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. yeah for sure! lol funny how they do that. I have to say man that this site is the best site I have seen in a while. What a great idea! everyone I have told laughs so hard but thinks its a great idea.

  3. @Justin, Hey, thanks man. If nothing else the site is worth a good chortle!

  4. I think it’s clear this is a sequel to T3 – they have Kate, for one big thing. She’s now Connor’s pregnant wife, and it doesn’t matter that she’s played by someone else (Bryce Dallas Howard instead of Claire Danes). How many John Connors have we had by now? But we always have Arnold (except the tv show version with Summer Glau, who I miss).

This was fine. I wish it had more humor and ensemble/character moments. It was more like a Matrix/Aliens mashup, but without the good character beats.

Going to see Genisiys now and see if it fits into the timeline.

  5. […] T4: Salvation (2009) — I liked Salvation but it didn’t FEEL like the previous movies. There were nods to the previous fioms, but the tone was off. I think they should have added a half hour of character development & ensemble moments (like in Aliens, as a perfect example), added some more humor, and it would have been just lovely. Another issue: it almost looked like T4 was filmed in black and white, which didn’t work for me. Everything was washed out or too dim. And a lot of great actors amassed for T4 were kind of wasted. For example: why get someone like Michael Ironside if you don’t write him some good lines? No wonder he didn’t even try to make anything of his part. I liked the film, I liked it….it just should have been a lot better. It did pick up with the character Kate from T3, which I appreciated, but most of the character writing felt lazy. One thing that does stand out now was how sad it to see a super young Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese. I didn’t realize he was in Salvation. Awwww. ย  Yelchin did do a nice job coming across as a young scared-but-resolute soldier who John needed to train up. I could see the producers were going for a Terminator/Aliens/Matrix look, but it really didn’t go beyond moments of homage to better material. […]

  6. […] human was wonderful. She stole the movie and our hearts. Too bad this was a re-tread of the plot in Terminator: Salvation. I’ll return to this […]
