Zombieland: Double Tap wasn’t great, but it was better than I expected and certainly satisfying.
I’m happy to say that Double Tap avoids the typical disappointment from sequels that were added on to a successful movie as a money grab. #ZL2 has the same charm and wit as the original. I’m not saying it was as good as the original, but only because the original Zombieland had, well, originality. What can you say? Zombieland created the zomedy genre.
The introduction of new characters was, for the most part, fun. Without giving anything away, I think some were used just enough, while others fortunately only had a few short scenes.

Here’s what I really enjoyed: the plot for Double Tap is mostly about creating humor. However, in little pieces here and there small details are added about characters that really make a difference later. Double Tap isn’t a complex story by any means — that’s not the sort of story this aspires to be. Kudos to the writers (Dave Callaham, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick) for keeping the humor coming while weaving these new details into a great payoff, without resorting to cheap cliches.
Grade: B+

This is a great app. I wish more people would support it
This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let's you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It's really a wonderful app. I've subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn't seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!
Developers note: RunPee doesn't make much money but it supports itself nicely. Donations are appreciated, but not required. We'll add as many movies to the database as we can until there are no more movie theaters.

About The Peetimes: ZL2 is a short movie, but I have 2 good Peetimes. The 1st one is longer, but so is the synopsis. I’d recommend the 2nd Peetime. Neither has any action to speak of, but are immediately followed by action scenes, so don’t be late.
There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Zombieland: Double Tap. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)
Rated (R) for bloody violence, language throughout, some drug and sexual content
Genres: Action, Comedy, Horror, Zombie
Creator and developer of the RunPee app. When something doesn’t work right in the app it’s pretty much his fault. 🙂
Aspiring author. Would like to finish his “Zombie Revelations” trilogy if he could break away for working on RunPee and the cottage he’s building for RunPee Mom.

Great review. It’s exactly what I would have said. I laughed and loved it the entire time, even if the climax was a bit…well…dumb. But that’s okay. This isn’t aspiring to do more than entertain and I clapped and cheered with the rest of the audience.
Immediately after watching, I wanted to give Double Tap an A-. But waking up the next day I decided B+ was more accurate, esp as compared to the original film. So I hopped on to see your review grade and B+ is what you wrote too.
Honestly, I had a GREAT time watching Double Tap. But it really does fall into that high B+, low A- range.
I can’t wait to see this one again when it streams, and I do think there’s room for a 3-quel in a year or two. So many more Rules/Commandments to be made. A big empty world to play in! Got to enjoy the little things.
ps: I can’t believe how many people left before the extra scenes. Haven’t they heard of RunPee yet? Bunch of Homers. 😉
