Yuck. If I could get away with a one word review, that would be it. That’s it folks. Usually I can find some redeeming quality to a movie, but with this one I’ve been digging deep and still come up empty. Let me think on it a while and I’ll be back.
Seven hours and eleven minutes later: still nothing. However, I thought of more things I didn’t like.
Thirty-two hours and fifteen minutes later: ah-ha! The house was neat. Yes, that house was amazing. There are two positive sentences about the movie. (You see what I did there, right?) Two sentences, but about the same thing. My job here is done. Enough with the positives, let’s transition to why I hated it.

First, let’s talk about the main character, Dr Faraday. Domhnall Gleeson plays him; I’ve never seen him in anything so I can only judge him based on this performance. When he experiences happiness — one face. When he feels fear — same face. If he gets excited — same face. When he gets sad — again, same face. Since when did they hire statues to act?
The story itself was poorly told. When reading the synopsis for this sleeper, it sounded promising. What we were shown fell so short that I think the editing department hijacked the good scenes.

Brilliant idea with great information
I’ve been using RunPee for a few years now and it’s basically a requirement of going to the movies for me. The best part of course are the “pee times” that give you cues, synopses and times for when you can pee without missing the most important parts of the movie. There is also information about the credits- length, extras and if there are any extra scenes at the wayyy end. Super helpful to just know that it is or isn’t worth staying. There is a timer function that will buzz your phone when it’s a good time to pee. I also appreciate that the app is very conscientious about it being an app you use in a theater- dark background, all silent alarms etc. I will always enjoy the experience of the theater even if I could watch things at home- but I’ve even used it at home to check for things like after credit scenes or other information too.

All in all, I don’t recommend this movie. Never, not once, will I ever repeat, “Hey, you should go check out The Little Stranger.”

She sees any movie needed with no complaints and has done so for ten years (even basing Thanksgiving and Christmas family festivities around the seeing films). In 2015 Sis ran the entire RunPee enterprise herself, while RunPee Dan, Jilly and Mom went traipsing off to Europe. Sis is the spider in the web holding the RunPee family together — besides being a funny, well rounded person, and a joyous pleasure to be around. Her favorite films start and end with horror (which thank goodness she’s happy to see, since most of us don’t have the stomach for it) — but also likes silly comedies, sad dramas, and musicals of all types. If you’ve used a Peetime for a scary film, you probably have RunPee Sis to thank for it.
Favorite movie genre: Horror, horror, and more horror. The more disturbing, the better. Period.
