The Action

Some of the action choreography is good. Kraven at least has his own animalistic style. That’s something to enjoy. My only problem would be that the character is a little too over the top. It would seem that he has a little more than just animalistic strength and quickness. He can also survive tremendous blows without harm. I feel that the writers simply wanted to create cool scenes and didn’t care for anything like realism. Personally, I think the movie would have been better with more limitations placed on Kraven.

The Acting

Aaron Taylor-Johnson did as much with his character as anyone could. I’m not going to say that he is as perfect for this role as Hugh Jackman is for Wolverine, but he’s a really great choice. I’m afraid that a lot of reviews are going to bash his acting, and the acting of the rest of the cast. But that’s not fair. There’s no actor who is going to work magic with the terrible dialog they were given. Honestly, there is some cringe-worthy dialog that is so bad I felt sorry for the actors as I watched them try to work through some of the scenes. Many of the scenes that rely on character conversation are awful, but it’s not the actor’s fault.

In retrospect, I think Alessandro Nivola (Rhino) did the best job.

Someone should throw poor Ariana DeBose (Calypso) a party to cheer her up because I’m certain she will be pummelled by the critics. But oh my god her dialog was trash, and her character was underdeveloped. There are three named writers for this script and they are all males. I’m not going to say that it’s impossible for a male to write dialog for a female, because some can. But these guys either can’t do it or don’t care about the character.

Plot

Unoriginal. I could go on, but what’s the point? This is just another story where the plot serves to create cool moments that will look good in the trailer but not build any real drama or suspense.

Grade: D+

Love love love this app. And, after receiving an email from Dan (the creator) that read as though it was a one-on-one communication sent only to me, I felt compelled to leave a long-overdue review. My son and I are absolutely addicted to this app…especially since I discovered it at the onset of the Marvel craze. Now we use it to confirm if there is a scene following the credits. Often times, we are the ONLY ones there watching the bonus scene…and it cracks us up. LOL! Thanks, RunPee!

About The Peetimes: The first and second Peetimes are the best. The last one isn’t bad, but there’s a lot of dialog to be summarized.
