If greatly disappointed me. Ryan Reynolds is one of the top actors in the world, everything he touches turns to gold. That’s why I was so excited to see IF.
I don’t know what happened but it was so dull and lifeless that the children I took weren’t even watching the movie.

I noticed as I was leaving the theater the usual hyperactivity of the little kids was slightly muted. So it wasn’t just me.
I’m probably going to get a ton of grief over knocking a Reynolds film. I hate myself for it, but darnit, I stand by what I say. IF wasn’t great.

Plot
A young girl who goes through a difficult experience begins to see everyone’s imaginary friends who have been left behind as their real-life friends have grown up.
RunPee.com owes RunPee Sis a huge debt of gratitude. She sees any movie needed with no complaints and has done so for ten years (even basing Thanksgiving and Christmas family festivities around the seeing films). In 2015 Sis ran the entire RunPee enterprise herself, while RunPee Dan, Jilly and Mom went traipsing off to Europe. Sis is the spider in the web holding the RunPee family together — besides being a funny, well rounded person, and a joyous pleasure to be around. Her favorite films start and end with horror (which thank goodness she’s happy to see, since most of us don’t have the stomach for it) — but also likes silly comedies, sad dramas, and musicals of all types. If you’ve used a Peetime for a scary film, you probably have RunPee Sis to thank for it.
Favorite movie genre: Horror, horror, and more horror. The more disturbing, the better. Period.
I loved it, even though I saw the ending coming half way through. I don’t think is supposed to be a kids movie. The marketing certainly leads one to believe that, but this is a movie for grown-ups. Kids in my screening were restless too, but that’s a flaw of marketing not the film. And, I found it nice to have Ryan Reynolds a little more sedate.
That’s good to hear. I’m slightly more enthusiastic about watching it now. Thanks.
I agree— i was bored. Took my niece and nephew and i heard no laughing or true enjoyment from them or other kids. It was “meh”. I had higher hopes.
This movie was more than just about imaginary friends. It was about getting through excruciating times in life and not losing your humanity!
I recently went through cancer. Not fun by any stretch of the imagination! When you hear the doctor say you have it, you feel the need to go dark just… because!
Anyway! It was not as bad as first thought and it was very treatable.
Now going through that dark night of the soul, I learned something, well two things!
1) I thought of a new phrase ‘The best bad news’ this is bad news but it’s not as bad as you thought and there is a lot of hope!
2) This was the most important- medicine helps you heal your body but going through a dark night of the soul, more than your body gets hurt and needs healing. Medicine can’t heal that! You need Love and Laughter to completely heal!
That’s what this movie was about! Humanity is about caring and connection to the best parts of yourself! Especially through dark times!
I messed up in my vote. I thought it was a vote for BEFORE I saw the movie and then I’d get another after but I did not.
I give this movie an A+. I’m a teacher I can do that! Lol
Hi Jason. Thanks for the thoughtful response. I’m very happy to hear that you have recovered. I didn’t see the movie myself—my sister did the Peetimes—but I plan to see it when it’s streaming. I really glad it resonated with you. That makes me want to watch it all the more.
