The Heart Eyes

Before I begin my review, let me share some fascinating facts I’ve recently come across. Runpee has been in operation for over 16 years, during which approximately 1,300 to 2,000 horror films have been released. This figure includes various sub-genres such as psychological thrillers, supernatural tales, slasher films, and more. With that said, I want to emphasize just how many of these films I’ve watched—it’s an astonishing amount. Now, seeing these statistics has left my brain feeling a bit overloaded.

When my brother founded Runpee, I took on the role of the official horror movie aficionado. He’s never been a fan of the genre, while I couldn’t get enough of it. However, over the years, I’ve grown increasingly jaded. I’ve essentially viewed everything Hollywood has produced to scare us for a few hours. In the beginning, it felt like anything but work. Fast forward 16 years, and now I approach these films with a sense of dread. After enduring so many lackluster horror films, my reviews have become progressively harsher.

Yet last night, everything changed. I stumbled upon a horror film that reignited my passion for the genre. It was refreshing, innovative, and genuinely unsettling in ways I hadn’t experienced for years. The storytelling was tight and the characters were well-developed. I found myself on the edge of my seat—something I hadn’t felt in ages.

This movie skillfully balanced classic horror elements with modern twists, making it feel both fresh and nostalgic. The suspense built up brilliantly, leading to a climax that was super satisfying. It reminded me of why I fell in love with horror films in the first place.

While it’s easy to get lost in a sea of mediocre films, discovering this gem made all the clunkers worth it. It serves as a reminder that there are still filmmakers out there striving to create something special within the horror genre. So, stay tuned; this review will delve deeper into what made this film stand out and why it deserves your attention.

Heart Eyes had me hooked 3 minutes into the movie. As a Runpee watcher, I have to take notes on the first 3 minutes to put into the app in case you’re running late. Man, that was hard this time because I was laughing, and honestly, I was in a little bit of shock because it had such a great opening scene. Again, remember I’m jaded, I usually already hate a movie 3 minutes in. First, heads up, don’t be late. It’s got a great start and that vibe and flow doesn’t stop until the credits. Actually, it runs past the credits. (Remember, we always let you know if there are additional scenes) The bonus scene was great and left me with one more smile.

The writing was stupendous. The lines had me cracking up with their snarky approach to handling a sticky situation. It wasn’t just the writing that made this movie stand out. The way the director got the cast to perform was sensational. It was a very cohesive movie: It all worked like a well-oiled machine.

If you’re thinking of taking your girl to the movies for Valentine’s Day, this would be perfect. There is just enough romance in there to get your point across (kiss kiss) but enough blood, guts, and gore to keep that special guy tickled, too. Heck, even if you’ve recently been jilted and you’re flying solo on Valentine’s Day, it would be perfect for you, too.

Movie Watching Must Have!!

I go feral for this app. I love it so much and I wish everyone knew about it and used it. It is incredibly useful and I would be devastated if this app ever disappeared. Things I love: 1) the pee times! It’s so handy to know the best time to go and then read the synopsis of what’s happening while I’m gone. I never have to worry about missing the good bits! 2) knowing if there is a post-credits scene or not. This might be my fav feature because I would have missed out on some pretty critical scenes if it weren’t for RunPee. 3) the movie review and viewer rankings. This info has made me watch some movies that I normally wouldn’t and it’s nice seeing things outside of my usual scope. 4) that it’s a small family run business. I love shopping small and it really does feel like I’m part of the RunPee family! If you reach out to them, Dan will personally respond to you and he is so warm and helpful. GET THIS APP AND THEN SUBSCRIBE! It is absolutely worth it and you’ll be using it again and again!
