Breaking down the extra scenes in Scoob!

Based on the end credit scenes in Scoob!, the Scoobyverse is about to get a whole lot bigger.  Clearly, the WB intends to grow far beyond the Scooby Gang and introduce many of the old Hanna Barbera characters. Starting from the top-left we see Captain Caveman— who has a cameo in the movie. Below him is Atom Ant. It’s a little hard to make out but Atom Ant may get a gender swap from the original male character in the cartoons.

Over on the top-right we see The Great Grape Apebut uncharacteristically he’s wearing a mask. To the lower-right we see Jabberjaw, who is basically Curly from the Three Stooges anthropomorphized into a great white shark.

We can expect to see Dr. Quest make an appearance at some point and it looks like he was the designer for R.O.S.I.E. the robot from the Jetsons.

Also seen in Quest Labs is Frankenstein Jr., a giant 30-foot tall robot created by Buzz Conroy Jr. and his father, Dr. Buzz Conroy. Maybe they consulted with Dr. Quest on their creation. We can also see the Vacuumbot over on the far right of the picture. Clearly that little guy is going to stick around. I’m guessing the Vacuumbot toy is headed for store shelves soon.

Finally, at the end of the end credit scenes we see that Dastardly and his dog Muttley are on the loose again.

One of the most useful apps I’ve ever come across. I’ve used it for years and recommended it to all my friends. Even if I’m not the type to have to pee during movies often, being able to pull up the app and pass my phone to my mom/friend/grandma so that they know when to go to the bathroom has been invaluable. Because then I don’t have to summarize anything when they get back!!

  1. All of these are reaching sooooo far back in my childhood memories. I have a sort of memory of the shark and the ape, and Captain Caveman sticks out a little bit more.

I wish Scoob had been better. I expected something like Pixar, where it was good for both the elders like us and newbies.

  2. lol, that’s exactly how I felt. Although when I saw Captain Caveman I knew that was him and it made me smile. I vaguely remember Jabberjaws, but none of the others.

  3. Jabberjaw! Right! Man, this is ticking way back on the life clock. I don’t think though that anyone alive really remembers those older toon shows? So who is the target audience of this?

Something I do recall is the Scooby Dooby Doo theme song, and how the theme from Buffy the Vampire Slayer is really a rock, modern-esque version of it. No surprise they call themselves The Scoobies. 🙂

  4. All I remember of Jabberjaw is irritation. Even as a child I didn’t like stupid. I’ll bet Jabberjaw is a Trump supporter. 🙂

  5. HA! You remember more than I do then. I don’t like stupid or cringe humor either.

I think the idea is to make a Hannah Barbara Universe…which will probably fail. Scooby Doo is the top property here and this movie doesn’t lead well. They would have to pull a rabbit out of their hats to make a Captain Caveman movie, for example, that works.

It doesn’t bode well that a silly Trolls movie is actually good (I gave Trolls World Tour a B), when Scooby Doo was ungood.

Now, the Jetsons has potential. Or an animated Fred Flintstones that includes The Great Gazoo.

  6. Agreed. They’re not off to a great start. However, I have a feeling that as technology improves it’s going to get cheaper and cheaper to create this content, and so it will be easy to make a profit.
