Movie Review: The Bourne Legacy

I don’t think there’s any question that if you liked the other Bourne movies you’ll like this one. I don’t think it’s as good as Bourne Identity, but it’s every bit as good as the other two.

The story is solid and fits into the Bourne universe perfectly. In fact…nah, I’m not going to give anything away. 🙂

Everyone is going to want to know how well Jeremy Renner fits into this role. As if there should be any doubts. Jeremy has a great talent, not just for emotional acting, but for physical acting as well.

The only weak link I might find with the movie is that there are a good number of long sequences that don’t do anything to advance the plot, besides showing people working: searching through video feeds, making fake IDs, research. That makes it easy for finding Peetimes but I think they over did it. They could have cut out 10 minutes of fluff and no one would have missed it.

  1. You know what? I missed this one. I don’t remember Renner in the Bourne movies. Does he play Bourne or someone else?

I’ll do a series rewatch sometime. I love the first film. I got angry in the second about…um, the thing that happens with the girl. I think that turned me off from continuing the series. But I think I’m over it, so I’ll give it another go.

I remember loving best that excellent scene in the parking garage after the car chase. Not only was the chase itself rather original in an overdone trope, but the moment after the chase in the garage felt real, and was amusing. Nice to have a breather in an action movie. Too many directors forget that. 🙂

  2. […] to happen, I’m glad Avatar was beaten by another movie I like.  At least it wasn’t a Jason Bourne film or a Transformers movie or a Fast and the Furious entry (they look fun, but I don’t keep up […]
