Prince of Persia was a so-so movie. Very formulaic: two parts The Mummy and one part Pirates of the Caribbean. Only it wasn’t as good as either of those. Okay, it was a looooong way from being as good as Pirates. But it’s probably neck and neck with The Mummy.

The action scenes are pretty cool. I think young kids will enjoy it just for those scenes. There is a lot of killing with sword chops and stabs plus some bow-n-arrow kills. So if you don’t want your kid to see something like that then don’t see this movie.

What this movie really lacked was humor. The only funny lines in the movie revolve around Sheik Amar played by Alfred Molina. It was great to see Alfred in a non-evil role. I hardly recognized him.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton were just fine in their roles. I think that had the writers given them some good humor to work with this movie could have been surprisingly good instead of predictably average.

This is a great app. I wish more people would support it

This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let's you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It's really a wonderful app. I've subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn't seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!

Developers note: RunPee doesn't make much money but it supports itself nicely. Donations are appreciated, but not required. We'll add as many movies to the database as we can until there are no more movie theaters.

  1. The Beatles forever!!

I actually thought this was a good movie. While it might not have been as good as the mummy and pirates, it was entertaining. I, myself, am a high schooler so my thoughts about the movie may be different from other people’s opinions. My favorite part about the movie was definitely the stunts that Jake Gyllenhal did (climbing up the wall was my favorite)–very impressive, though he had to have used wires and such, but still…

  2. I thought it was a pretty enjoyable action flick. Though I think the video game was better, this was a different take on the same concept with slightly different main characters. It made sense to change the story, since movies demand more complex plotlines and character interaction. Overall, even though the movie’s nothing to write home about, I think it’s a step in the right direction for video game movies.
