I think No redeeming qualities best sums up how I feel about this movie. I guess Adam Driver was as good as expected, and the little girl was just fine. But the story… What a pile of excrement.

Science

It would be easier to list the few things this movie gets right about science than how many things they got wrong. Everything from astronomy to biology to animal behavior. They didn’t have a clue.

Story

As bad as the science is in this movie, the writing is even worse. I can’t believe they spilled the beans of the plot twist when I saw the first movie trailer. My only thought was, “Well this could have been really shocking to find out if they didn’t spill it right off the bat. And just in case you managed to miss all the movie trailers and still chose to see this movie then they spoil the only cool thing in the first one minute.

Spoilers galore below

Here are some of the scientific errors I noticed.

Predators don’t attack animals that are bigger than themselves unless they attack in packs. Also, predators are actually extremely cautious in attacking anything. Even a slightly wounded predator may starve to death before it can heal.

Asteroids don’t come in swarms like that. If there were a large asteroid, like the one that wiped out the dinosaurs, that was surrounded by a bunch of smaller asteroids then over the span of billions of years the small ones will all merge with the larger one due to gravity.

Asteroid belts have a lot of asteroids, but even more space. It takes spacecraft months to travel from one asteroid to the next. They don’t come in dense storms. The rings of Saturn aren’t as dense as the asteroid belt in this movie.

Grade: D-

About The Peetimes: Even though this is a short movie I found 2 good Peetimes, and one emergency option for you. I would recommend the second Peetime over the others.

There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of 65.

Brilliant idea with great information

I’ve been using RunPee for a few years now and it’s basically a requirement of going to the movies for me. The best part of course are the “pee times” that give you cues, synopses and times for when you can pee without missing the most important parts of the movie. There is also information about the credits- length, extras and if there are any extra scenes at the wayyy end. Super helpful to just know that it is or isn’t worth staying. There is a timer function that will buzz your phone when it’s a good time to pee. I also appreciate that the app is very conscientious about it being an app you use in a theater- dark background, all silent alarms etc. I will always enjoy the experience of the theater even if I could watch things at home- but I’ve even used it at home to check for things like after credit scenes or other information too.

  1. Well, this sucks big time. I was really looking forward to this. I guess I’ll save watching for my next long flight. That seems to be how I catch up to a lot of “leftover” movies these days. I wish I was joking!

I agree with you hear, and during the movie, the movie stopped and the lights and alarm came on with 20 minutes left, some people got their money back but I thought, I made it this far, gotta see it threw, wish I left too. There was really nothing to make you feel for these characters, I mean, I did not feel for Adam’s and did not care if he made it or not, which I thought was bad, it was just trying to get out of one thing or another, which is not bad but you need to care for the people, and for some reason I did not

    1. Good point about not caring if the characters make it or not, particularly Adam’s character. I really thought there was a good chance he would sacrifice himself to save the girl.

That sucks that the alarm came on during the movie. I haven’t had that happen to me for a long time now. It must have been at least 8 years ago now.
