New Movie Review - Ammonite

New Movie Review – Ammonite

//echo ‘.o.o.o.o’;

This is not a dialogue heavy film. Ammonite is more an exercise in atmosphere, and a good excuse to get back to the theaters. I had my hopes up based purely on the cast — Kate Winslet, Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Jones, and Fiona Shawâ — I don’t think I’ve seen anything with those actors in that I haven’t enjoyed and they were all on top form here. Also: Paleontology!

Rumors: will Tom Hardy be the next Bond?

Rumors: will Tom Hardy be the next Bond?
We think Tom Hardy as Bond is only a rumor, but have a great list of who might take up the mantle next, and the next after that, and even a few “Jane Bond” options for your consideration! We’d love to know what you think.

New Movie Review - Honest Thief

New Movie Review – Honest Thief
Here’s a new Liam Neeson film that’s *not* an excuse to get back to the theater. It’s not even a good excuse to wait for streaming. Liam, Oh Liam, why do you take on these terrible action movies? You’re better than this.

Indie Movie Review – Call Me Brother

Indie Movie Review – Call Me Brother
What part of Call Me Brother is, as the subtitle boasts, incestuous? Or is this a misdirect?
Obviously this is where I have to stop without giving anything away, so I’ll just concentrate on the award-winning comedy itself. It was well shot, well acted, mainly well cast, and well directed.

Indie Documentary Review - J.R. 'Bob' Dobbs and the Church of the SubGenius

Indie Documentary Review – J.R. ‘Bob’ Dobbs and the Church of the SubGenius
Welcome to one of the most wacky, madcap documentaries ever. It’s satire; it’s truth; it’s officially a religion that’s gained in weird momentum over the years. This docu film will make you want to sign right up for Bob’s congregation of subgeniuses.

Movie Review – Housesitter: The Night They Saved Siegfried’s Brain

Indie Movie Review – Housesitter: The Night They Saved Siegfried’s Brain
The film notes say this one sat on a shelf for thirty two years, and was finally dusted off and finished this year. Stylistically, I don’t know if it’s meant to tie in with the ‘50s sci-fi vs ‘80s horror themes, but the lab scenes were in black and white, while the party scenes were in color. Strange little mashup of a film that will probably find its fandom.

Weekly progress diary on RunPee:NX
We are rebuilding the RunPee app from scratch using Google Flutter. Here’s a brief report on our weekly progress:

Beta testing has begun! I’m doing beta testing in groups. There’s no point in giving everyone the same thing to look at. If you didn’t already get an email with info to download the app then you’ll be in a subsequent testing group. Don’t worry, you’re time will come. 🙂 Thanks again to everyone who offered to help test.
