Movie Review – The Photograph

Read Time:2 Minute, 13 Second

The PhotographHappy Valentine’s Day Peeple! It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. When you can have a collection of pictures that tell a story, that collection becomes priceless.

This is a really cute date night movie. I enjoyed seeing Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield together on screen. Mae and Michael, their characters respectively, explored an instant attraction for each other. Like most of us, we don’t like jumping into another relationship too soon after one ends. But sometimes, the universe places a special connection in your life for more than just a season.

Mae and Michael were both vulnerable when they met, but for two different reasons. Mae lost her mom unexpectedly and Michael lost his fiancee in a breakup. The way the two of them learned to be patient with each other’s personal flaws in order to find their perfect connection was touching, passionate, and at times heartbreaking. It was clever how Mae and Michael’s jobs were intertwined and closed the loop on a lot of unanswered questions for Mae about pursuing love, and for Michael about maintaining love.

At times, I was a little bothered by some of the scene transitions. I felt like I was left hanging a few times, where I wanted just a little bit more to play out about her mother during those subtle flashback scenes. The soundtrack is lit; download it for sure. While I watched the movie by myself, my heart fluttered when the couple escaped the rain and began listening to the Al Green vinyl. My husband proposed to Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together. Awwww! Pass me some tissue, Tito. LOL!

Dana Simone Stovall and husband TitoEnjoy the movie with your boo. I’ll be seeing it again with mine. Remember to express your love to people while they’re above ground so your soul feels no void when they’re below ground. Embrace all your connections. Live unconditionally without regrets and may you too have a photograph that speaks a thousand words on your behalf. Here’s a favorite pic of me and my husband. I’d like to see one of you and yours. Share a pic and share this review. One of you may get some Infinity love from RunPee.

Grade: C+

About The Peetimes: It was a little tricky picking the Peetimes due to so many flashback scenes between the past and present. I would recommend the 2nd Peetime as the best.

There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of The Photograph. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)

Rated (PG-13) for sexuality and brief strong language
Genres: Drama, Romance

Is there anything extra during the end credits of The Photograph?

RunPee is one of my favourite apps. No more googling a film before you see it and risking spoilers, this app has everything you need to know, not just the best time to go to the toilet. Dan, the developer, also offers an amazing customer service experience. I recently switched phones, and Dan was very generous in sorting things out with me as I moved over to my current system. If you’re an avid film watcher, this is the app for you!

I loved the movie. Loved the sound track. My Boo has been gone for 10 yrs. A musician, he would have loved the music. I thought the message was “courage.” Courage to love, courage to leave, courage to say I was wrong.

  2. Absolutely! Thanks Debra for your comment. Sorry to hear that your musical love is no longer with you. That soundtrack is really good!
