Download the RunPee-Beta (v1.0.1) APK file here.
Note: You need to download this app on your phone, duh.
Note 2: This only works on Android 2.2+ ( which should me most everyone at this point )
Click here to view the installation instructions along with screen shots. Installing the app is slightly different than installing from the Android Marketplace but it isn’t difficult. If you have any trouble then please post a comment – or you can even call me at 330 353 9338 – and I will help you out.
Please be as picky as possible with your feedback. The most important thing I need to know is if something just doesn’t work at all. Since I know that everything does work – I’ve tested on four phones myself – I’ll have to figure out why it doesn’t work for you. Hopefully no one will have any of these problems but that’s what beta testing is for.
The second most important thing I need to know is if you get confused by something like how things work or the wording I use somewhere. Don’t hesitate to say, “I have no idea what this button on the blah-blah screen does.” That’s something that I’ll need to address.
Of course don’t be timid about suggesting other features or new ways of doing things. A lot of the stuff in this app came from user suggestions. I don’t consider this to be my app. This is your app that I’m building for you. So tell me how you would like for me to make it better.
Lastly: before commenting be sure to read the list below for things that have already been suggested. That can save you time from duplicating things. However, feel free to comment about someone’s suggestion offering support for it. If one person suggests something I might implement it. If 5 people agree with them then I’ll certainly implement it.
Features I plan to add
- video trailers
- movie tickets
- built in flash lite – for finding your seat in the dark
- add nice little icons to some of the buttons
- A few other surprises
User Suggested features
- Be the first one to comment and I’ll add it here
Bugs to fix
- Make sure every button has a press state so that users can tell that it was pressed
Thank you very much for all your help and support!

Great updates since I last used the app. Using HTC Evo
Suggestions:
1) I would rather use the menu button on my phone to bring up the app menu, rather than it always showing, thus taking up screen space that I could use to see one more movie.
2) Will you ever open up a submit button where users can submit runpee times for movies they are watching that you do not have yet. Or where users can add or comment on runpee times? What if I don’t agree with a pee break or I think there should be another one added?
3) I would like to sort by movie release date or at least if the movie is showing on DVD or at the Theater, so when I sort by date I can see new movies, not just new movies that your “staff” have just watched.
Is there supposed to be any news? Either remove that screen or at least put a note saying “news will be updated when available” so I at least know that the screen is loading properly or not. Also on the news screen, the RETURN button is only about a 1/5th of the height of your other buttons on the app.
Great job again on the updates, it has already improved a lot since the last beta.
Thanks for the feedback.
1-I would do that except this app will work on some phones that don’t have the menu button – like the iPhone. So it has to be visible. But perhaps I can do some detection to see if the device has the menu button or not. Ill look into it.
2-Funny you should say that. Originally RunPee was wiki based but that didn’t work so well. In fact out of maybe 100 submissions there might have been 2 that we ever used.
Later on I do plan on adding a feature to let users vote in which peetimes they would recommend. And as it is we now have a “peetime description” where the person who took the peetimes – myself, mother, sister – can display a short note about the peetimes. Like which one we think is best to use or if it matters.
I’m also going to build in a way for people to easily send feedback.
3-You can do that now. If you go to “options” you can select to view “all” movies. Then you can scroll back through all the movies in the database.
Sorry about the “news” button. It will work when the final release comes out in a few days.
I would love to test this out, but my phone is running on android 2.1 so I can’t install the app.
That sucks. Hopefully you’re phone will update to 2.2 soon. When it does the RunPee app will be their in the Android Marketplace waiting for you.
